TREK

container Productivity / Tools

Trip planner for working out each day of a holiday on a map, with bookings, budgets, packing lists and live editing with whoever's coming along.

Install TREK

It isn't in the main Portainer Templates list yet, so use this one. Portainer takes one URL at a time, so it swaps out whatever list you had before.

In Portainer, head to Settings --> App Templates, paste this in as the URL and save.

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/NotAFlightRisk/portainer-templates-extras/main/templates.json
  1. Open App Templates and pick TREK.
  2. The form works as it comes, so change only what you want to.
  3. Hit Deploy the container, then open http://<your-server>:8099 in a browser.

Before you start

Open http://<your-host>:8099 and sign in as admin@trek.local. The password's printed in the container's logs on first start (search them for First Run), and TREK makes you pick a new one straight away. Anyone who can reach it can register their own account, so switch off Password Registration under Administration --> Settings if that's not what you want. Place search asks TREK's own places.liketrek.com as well as OpenStreetMap, add a TREK_PLACES_ENABLED=false env to keep it to OpenStreetMap. The database, its encryption key and every upload live in the two volumes. Docs: github.com/liketrek/TREK/wiki

Settings

What the Portainer form asks for. With compose they go in the environment block instead.

VariableWhat it's forDefault
COOKIE_SECUREOpening it over plain http? TREK only sends its login cookie over HTTPS unless this is on. Switch it off once it's behind a reverse proxy with HTTPS. One of false, true.false
TZTimezone Like Europe/London. Reminders and scheduled jobs run on it. UTC

Ports and storage

Change the left side of a port if it clashes with something else on your server. The volumes are where the data lives, so keep them when you update.
